The First Indian Wedding Dinner I Have Ever Attended

Yesterday was my  first day back in Penang. Well, that was good because me and my aunt were invited to …wait for it…

An Indian Wedding! Hardly believe it, right? Well, no doubt.  This happened (even if you do not believe it)!

Anyway, that night, I got myself ready. I put on my best clothes, which was my favourite Ben-10 t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans. Then, I set off towards the wedding with my aunt.  The wedding was held in a school hall! Wow, spectacular!

In front of the entrance, there was a “kolam” and a statue of the Elephant God. The Elephant God is the god of the Hindus, whereas a “kolam” is a beautiful floor pattern made of colourful rice.  At the entrance, there were a few people wearing their traditional clothes, and in them they looked grand.

When I entered the hall, the wedding had started. Were we late? No, because it was a “first come, first serve, first leave” dinner.  In fact, the guests were busy “attacking” their curry and rice. I gulped, because I had a feeling my tongue was on fire when I ate the curry rice. Luckily, as they did prepare some ice water (for putting out my flames).

After eating, me and my aunt went up to to give a card to the bride, who was wearing a traditional sari. She thanked us both. After that, we went home.

This is the experience of the first Indian Wedding Dinner which I have ever attended.
